The Chicago Art Book Fair began last year as an experiment in showcasing emerging directions and diverse legacies within small press arts publishing. The fair featured an international group of 125 arts publishers, small presses, book artists, comics artists, zine-makers and printmakers, with satellite programming and after parties. To our delight, our first effort made a splash with over 6,000 guests in attendance. In 2018, we look forward to bringing even more of Chicago's people together with another fantastic roster of artist vendors. The Chicago Art Book Fair will once again convene at the historic Chicago Athletic Association, at 12 S. Michigan Avenue.

An unfolding response to archival material discovered in a three-ring binder.

'I really didn’t know what I was looking for when I landed in Iceland for the month of June. I walked into this museum hoping to discover work new to me. And when I encountered the reading room, I wanted to find a woman represented on the shelves of contact sheets. Beginning on the top left shelf by that makeshift entrance, I systematically read the names written along all of the spines. I worked my way through an army of men lined up for days and years. Disheartened by the search for a woman’s perspective, I randomly pulled out binders just to get a sense of the range of work represented. After making my way through more than two thirds of the shelves, I almost started over. Maybe I wasn’t recognizing gender originating in the Icelandic language. I considered consulting the official Icelandic national registry of 1,853 female names before moving on. And then I found you.'

In an edition of 25 copies, this is the second limited edition artist book made in collaboration with The Donut Shop.

Sentiment is a series of collages from an ongoing body of work by Elaine Catherine Miller that act as personal reflections while she is influenced by popular culture, media, and consumerism. Using both analog and digital collage techniques combined with photography, Miller seamlessly interweaves found objects, magazine cutouts, and handwritten letters to interrelate motifs of life and death with franchise logos, beloved characters from childhood, and contemporary consumer products. Through layering and distortion, her images reflect a psychedelic emotional landscape that responds to being an American woman who has grown up on the Internet.
